You’re Safe with Me — Kyle Spencer x Nadia Lynch AHS One-Shot

Between classes Kyle Spencer decided to take a leisurely stroll around campus. His hands stuffed into his khaki pants pockets with one of his long white sleeves slipping down slightly from underneath his dark navy-blue frat boy t-shirt with yellow lettering. Normally he would be hanging out with his friends, but after his midterms, a change of pace certainly wasn’t going to do him any harm.

As he walked down the sidewalks, he noticed a trail of red droplets and looked around for the source. Kyle followed the trail as the droplets spread got closer and closer together until he was met with a small pool of blood. His dark eyes looked up at the pool of blood and his eyes met the terrified blue eyes of a girl about his age. She was dressed in all black and her blonde hair braided. The ends of which were soaked in dried blood.

Blood seeped out from her right arm and her side, dripping onto the sidewalk as she limped. Her eyes wide as she met Kyle’s gaze. Her vision blurred in and out of clarity. Her mind dizzy from the loss of blood and she outstretched her hand to defend herself. But the braided blonde girl wobbled on her feet and her foot slipped on a rock causing her knees to buckle from underneath herself.

Kyle acted quickly and scooped her to her feet before this mysteriously injured girl could fall and hit the ground. “Don’t worry. I gotcha… I gotcha. I won’t hurt you.” He reassured her and helped her to her feet. He wrapped his arm around her waist, holding her upright as he looked around at their surroundings. “My frat house isn’t far from here. We need to take care of those injuries.” He looked her over once more, assessing her condition with a clearer head. “Can I carry you? It’ll be a lot faster, and your injuries look bad.”

The look in the girl’s eyes seemed utterly and completely shaken up. But slowly changed to one of confusion over the fact that he was so willing to help her. Her lower lip began to quiver, and she nodded her head slowly, bracing herself for the sting of pain that came when he scooped her up into his arms bridal style. She would have said something when he asked, but a lump in her throat formed.

Kyle’s eyes softened sympathetically as he looked down at her for a moment before he carried her all the way to his frat house fairly effortlessly. He took a shortcut through some alleys and down sidewalks that weren’t frequented often. When they arrived at the frat house, Kyle turned to the girl in his arms. “I’m going to set you down, alright? Just to open the door. Do you think you can stand?” He asked, his voice dripping with concern for her safety.

She nodded her head a little before her feet gently hit the ground and she leaned against the metal railing bolted down to the stoop leading up to the house. Her eyes carefully watching Kyle, studying his every move.

Kyle fished out his keys from his left pocket and unlocked the door before propping it open with his foot. He turned to her and held out his hand, “Come on. Let’s get your arm and side checked out.” He said, offering her a kind smile that grew when she grabbed his hand. Kyle guided her closer to him before scooping her up again bridal style. He carried her into the frat house and closed the door behind him before taking her up to his room.

When she took his hand, she felt his good intentions and his heart of gold. It made her muscles relax from how tense she was, but he was coated in her blood, and it made her feel guilty. The pit in her stomach winding up from that guilt as the guilt of what happened. Her hand gripped tightly onto the dark navy fabric of his shirt and her head laid against his chest while they traveled through the house to his bedroom.

The bedroom was neat with a pile of clothes in the corner. His homework and textbook scattering his desk in the corner by the window. A few posters hung up and a stereo sitting on top of the wood dresser. The bed wasn’t made, but she didn’t care.

Kyle looked down at her and offered a kind smile. “I’m going to set you down, okay?” He said softly, waiting until he got an answer before gently setting her down on the bed. He kneeled in front of her. “I’m going to get the first aid kit. I’ll be right back. Don’t move.” Kyle scurried out of the room and returned quickly with a bowl of warm water and a washcloth in addition to the first aid kit. He sat down next to her on the bed and set the first aid kit on the other side of him. “I’m going to take off your shirt, okay?” His eyes met hers, waiting for a nod which he received then proceeded to carefully peel the black shirt from her smaller frame.

Kyle placed the shirt down by his feet by the bowl of warm water. He wetted the washcloth and rung it out before he proceeded to clean the blood from her wound on her side and then her arm. The clear water became a murky red. He stopped the bleeding and disinfected the wounds before wrapping them up in gauze. “Thank goodness you are wearing black. Otherwise, this would be a heck of a stain to get out.” He joked lightly and chuckled softly, hoping to lighten the mood. He cracked a small smile, hoping that she would too. “What is your name?” Kyle asked. “I’m Kyle.”

Her lips upturned into a small smile at his little jest. She looked him over before meeting his kind eyes and opened her mouth. “…Nadia.” She swallowed the small lump in the back of her throat. “I’m Nadia.” Her throat suddenly felt dry, and her body began to tremble. Her eyes shut tightly as the memories of what happened to her and the others in her coven flooded her mind.

Kyle’s eyes widened a little bit, and he knew immediately from her reaction, that she was reliving something in her head. He put his hand on her shoulder and uttered softly. “Hey… Hey… it’s okay… you’re safe with me.” He promised as he slowly wrapped his arms around her smaller frame and pulled her into a hug.

Nadia reached up and wrapped her arms around him, her hands gripping the fabric of his dark navy-blue t-shirt. She buried her head into his shoulder as she shook in his arms in shock over what happened.

A man wandered into the home. The blunt side of his axe dragging along the floor. She didn’t know what was happening until it was too late. Until the Axeman came into her room with blood covering him and the axe, leaving a trail of blood. She ran for help and in the process, got her best friend killed right in front of her — her blood splattering all over her. The Axeman caught up to her and he swung towards her arm and her side, landing near fatal blows if she hadn’t teleported herself in the bare nick of time. Nadia ran for her life quite literally. She wandered into the campus and could hardly make it any farther when Kyle found her.

Kyle’s firm hold on her gave her comfort and her gift of sight through touch assured her that he had no ill will towards her. She allowed herself to break down in his arms and going through the shock. His words rung through her mind over and over again, giving her the comfort and the kind words, she needed to process through her trauma. ’You’re safe with me.’
