A razor thin stream of sunlight singed Elinor’s upper thigh about halfway up. The smell of her burning flesh immediately hit her nose and her eyes snapped open. She jolted out of the bed to the other side of the room. “Ow...” the vampire muttered, cursing under her breath.

The cool breeze brushed against Elinor Snow’s olive skin as she walked out from the dark alley, her knee-high heels clicking against the cement. A low cloud of mist pooled around her feet, appearing to be coming from the alley. Her bioluminescent eyes glowed yellow in the night, with dark grey veins prominent around them. Her tongue ran along her bottom lip to catch the rest blood of her latest victim and traced along the sharp edges of her fangs.

Several hours passed until Hazel found some possible ways that she could get back to the land of the living. She could have Hades’ brother Zeus resurrect her, but she had no way of contacting him nor did she really have a good reason to convince him to bring her back. She could eat from the ambrosia tree, from the food of the gods, that Orpheus and Eurydice used to escape the Underworld.
The chances of either of those pan out for her were slim to none. Hazel slammed the book in her hands shut with a loud thud before she threw it clear across the room. She ran her fingers through her hair in frustration, pulling her legs into her chest. A few tears welled up in her eyes and she quickly wiped them away. The pit in her stomach only grew with each book she read. The dread of finding a way out of the Underworld and back to Killian grew exponentially.
Lee typed on her computer keyboard with a bored expression on her face. It seemed to be another boring day at the office at her father’s company, Finley Inc. She was currently working on a contract for her father, Jacob, to Blake Carrington for Finley Inc. and Carrington Atlantic to work together while they ventured into the agriculture field while Carrington Atlantic took care of the oil operation on their farm in Iowa.
She sighed heavily and ceased her typing. She leaned back in the office chair and rubbed her eyes with her index fingers. “I should really get some glasses for the computer.” This wasn’t exactly her dream job, working for her father at this company after they struck oil on the farm and became richer than they could have imagined on the farm alone.
His eyes were cold and lifeless as he stared at her. “You have no idea who I am, do you?” His brow rose curiously, waiting for her answer.
She shook her head gently, fear slowly settling in her eyes. “No. I don’t.” She replied. Her feet instinctively took a few steps backwards until the back of her heels hit a wooden crate.
As he walked down the sidewalks, he noticed a trail of red droplets and looked around for the source. Kyle followed the trail as the droplets spread got closer and closer together until he was met with a small pool of blood. His dark eyes looked up at the pool of blood and his eyes met the terrified blue eyes of a girl about his age. She was dressed in all black and her blonde hair braided. The ends of which were soaked in dried blood.
Blood seeped out from her right arm and her side, dripping onto the sidewalk as she limped. Her eyes wide as she met Kyle’s gaze. Her vision blurred in and out of clarity. Her mind dizzy from the loss of blood and she outstretched her hand to defend herself. But the braided blonde girl wobbled on her feet and her foot slipped on a rock causing her knees to buckle from underneath herself.
Kyle acted quickly and scooped her to her feet before this mysteriously injured girl could fall and hit the ground. “Don’t worry. I gotcha… I gotcha. I won’t hurt you.” He reassured her and helped her to her feet. He wrapped his arm around her waist, holding her upright as he looked around at their surroundings. “My frat house isn’t far from here. We need to take care of those injuries.” He looked her over once more, assessing her condition with a clearer head. “Can I carry you? It’ll be a lot faster, and your injuries look bad.”
