Hooked on Writing: Day One
I’m trying out this 31 day writing exercise workbook. It is the Hooked on Writing Workbook by Amanda Patterson which I bought a hardcopy version of. The first exercise has to do with picking out a fictional character from a small list and making them realistic. This is my attempt with Jack Frost! Hope you guys like it!
My Love Among the Stars - Chapter 2
With a cup of coffee in his hand, Colonel John Sheppard walked down the corridors of the City. As he passed by anyone else wandering the halls, he alternated between saying a simple ‘Hi’, mouthing ‘Hey’ with a slight raise of his brows, and silently nodding a ‘Good morning’. He stopped walking once he reached his room. He slid his hand over the sensor to open the door and walked through, the door sliding closed behind him.
He made his way over to his bed and slumped down the blue sheeted mattress. He lifted the white cup to his lips and sipped the hot coffee carefully to not burn his lips. He lowered the cup from his lips and lowered his arm to his lap, his eyes scanning the room lazily until he landed on the grey rectangular dresser beside the bed where he kept a few books stacked on top among a few other trinkets he brought from home to decorate his living quarters.
The Fairy and Her Captain Chapter 13
He bit the edge of his lower lip. He couldn’t take his eyes from her form. Any moment, he expected her to sit up and say she was okay. Say that it was all a trick or an enchantment that she cast to fake her death. The black veins around her face, down her neck that disappeared into her green tunic, and along her exposed arms where her sleeves were rolled up, told him the opposite. All he wanted was for her to be okay. For her to be with him, but she was brought here. Whether or not it was of her own volition, he had no way to tell unless he could ask her himself.
“…Please come back to me….this was all my fault…” He choked out, feeling the tears well up in his eyes.
Sam Alfero Chapter 1 Writing Log
Just a little writing log that I kept for this chapter of Sam Alfero. Just some word counts if anyone is interested.
Sam Alfero Chapter 1
“I’ll take the job.” Sam plainly said, “Half now and half when the job is finished. Otherwise I’m out.” She uncrossed her legs and her eyes glowed an orange-red hue. She scanned the burly man across the dimly lit table between them. She reached into her red jacket and took out her silver rectangle Credit Stick from her pocket. She pressed her thumb against the biometric sensor on the right side of the device. The black screen presented her credit balance of 2,000 Credits in white circular font.
My Love Among the Stars - Chapter 1
Aridelle made her way over towards the dialing device. Her blue eyes studied the glyphs, and she traced her fingers along the glass covered symbols. Her father informed her of what this pedestal did, and she knew that the glyphs had something to do with the ring that allowed their soldiers to travel, but she had no idea which glyphs in what sequence to lead where. Before she could conduct her own experiments with the dialing pedestal, the gate activated.
A buzzing sound came from the ring, and a water-like substance filled the center of the ring. A column jutted out for a moment before falling back into the rippling center.
Aridelle promptly ducked behind the pedestal the moment she saw four people come out of the wormhole. Three males and one woman. The male that led the small group had stubble on his face, wore black glasses that covered his eyes, a black t-shirt and a matching pocketed vest over it, along with light grey pants. He held up a weapon and after he surveyed the place. When he deemed it safe, he lowered his weapon and turned to the rest of the group.

Sam Alfero - Brief Concept

The Fairy and Her Captain - Chapter 12
Pan turned on his heels to leave, but before he took off, he heard the sound. “So you had the gall to follow me, fae.” He felt a mischievous streak hit him, a game perhaps would distract him along enough to figure out how he was going to find the heart of the truest believer. Or where he was going to find it. “How about a game of chase? It should be about time that the spring water is losing its magic effects on this island. Let’s see who can get to the spring first, shall we?” He taunted, quickly flying in her direction.
Writer’s Insight #1
Welcome one and all to my very first Writer’s Insight! This is the blog series where I talk about my personal insight into the world of writing from my perspective to give outside readers a look into what it is like being a writer.
Saturday Study Session - Hope Mikaelson
Josie tapped Dawn's shoulder and took a seat next to her. "So? Are you finally going to tell Hope that you like her? You know that she isn't going to wait forever. You'll feel better if you get it off your chest, Dee." She meant well, truly. Dawn glanced up from her book and rolled her tongue against where she had been biting her cheek, sighing softly carrying a soft subtle smile on her lips.
"I know... I'm just scared that it is going to change everything, Josie. That it might wreck the friendship we have." She admitted and with a gentle thud, she closed the book she'd been reading. She reached up and lightly tangled her finger in her hair, gently twirling it around nervously.
Can You Feel the Love Tonight? - Woodland DeMars
You had, admittedly, more to yourself than anyone else, acquired a crush on none other than Woodland "Woods" DeMars. You were sure that he had similar feelings as well. Though maybe not to the extent of yours, but you needed to tell him about your feelings. You just didn't really know how or when.
Tanner had walked into blue base as you were working with Woods on some audio for Rekt, knocking on the door frame as he had peaked his head through the door. "Yo, (y/n). Can I talk to you for a minute out here?" He saw the worried look in your eyes like you had been in trouble or something. "Don't worry, you aren't in trouble. I just gotta ask you something in private about a possible idea for a video."
I Won’t Say I’m in Love - Woodland DeMars
"The rules for this challenge is that if you pick truth, you'll get hooked up to this wonderful little lie detector machine." The camera panned over to Connor who was at the lie detector. "If you lie, you get dumped with ice cold water. If you tell the truth, you get a point."
The camera panned over to you. "If you choose dare, you have to do the dare or else you'll get...you guessed it, poured on with ice cold water. The person with the most points at the end wins and the person with the least amount of points loses and has to face a punishment. So stay tuned for that." You finished off for the intro to the video.
The Fairy and Her Captain - Chapter 11
Hazel stepped onto the sandy beach, her eyes settled on the ocean waves. A somber smile sat on her lips as her gaze drifted to the Jolly Roger. Every nerve in her body pulled her towards the ship and it killed her to know that she couldn’t leave with her captain and his crew. That she couldn’t take refuge in her crow’s nest.
A lump formed in her throat and tears welled in her eyes. She quickly used her finger to wipe the tears away, hearing the familiar footsteps of Killian come from behind her. She cleared her throat before turning to him as he walked to her and stood beside her.
The Fairy and Her Captain - Chapter 10
The pirate captain didn’t dare move from his spot, afraid to disturb the fae from her slumber. His eyes stayed locked on her and his fingers played absently with her hair, running his hand through her golden locks. A long absent memory rose to the surface of his mind. One that he thought escaped him.
The memory took place aboard the Jolly Roger in his quarters. He was sitting on his bed, reading a book after a long day of sailing. Milah sauntered in and laid down on the bed, setting her head in his lap. He set the book down on the bed open-faced to keep his place. He played with her jet-black hair, running his fingers through it like he had been doing with Hazel in this moment.
The Fairy and Her Captain - Chapter 9
Hazel’s blue eyes snapped open at the feeling of a stick jutting into her stomach. “Stop that!” She exclaimed, moving to take the stick away, but was pulled back by the rope binds that kept her tied to the tree. The back of her head smacked against the bark causing her to wince.
Her pain caused the young Lost Boy to laugh at her expense with a hand on his stomach.
“Sorry, lady, but you can’t get out of this rope.” A blond male stated. He appeared to be the eldest of the Lost Boys and their leader…second in command to Pan. His gray eyes studied the female up and down as he walked up to her.
The Fairy and Her Captain - Chapter 8
The sun rose over the horizon, highlighting the tops of the vast forest. The smell of the morning dew just settling in the air. The sunrise was one of those sights that the fae could never tire of no matter what. To be fair there were many sights that Hazel enjoyed admiring, but the sunrise always meant a new day...a new adventure...regardless of where she was.
The only thing tearing her gaze away from the sunrise was the heaviness of her eyelids threatening sleep. But she had to stay awake to protect the crew from the Lost Boys and Pan. She had to keep watch over the cave if one of them were to wander off on their own. She couldn't allow herself to sleep for a moment.
